It remains an old adage that when Virender Sehwag gets going, there is no force competent enough on this globe to stop him. The Nawab of Najafgarh was an absolute legend and simply revolutionized the way in which test cricket was defined in the 21st century. In an era where defending against great bowlers was considered an achievement, Sehwag made it a habit of thrashing all bowlers, irrespective of their statures.
Pakistan was one destination where the Indian batting wasn’t at its particular best. India’s breakthrough campaign in Pakistan in a test series came in 2004 when the Sourav Ganguly-led Indian side created history as they defeated the hosts 2-1. In that series victory, it was Sehwag, whose exploits with the bat did the trick for India.
2 years later, India once again toured Pakistan for a test series, but this time with a different setup and a different captain. The series result might not have gone India’s way, but the visitors provided some stellar entertainment with the bat. Once again, it was none other than Sehwag, who provided all the entertainment and fireworks.
In the first test at Lahore, Pakistan, on a flat deck, batted first and amassed a colossal 679 on board. For India to harbor any hopes of saving the game, Sehwag would have to be at his absolute best. The opener was up to the task and took the challenge head on. The Indian opener went on to play a historic knock, as he scored 254 off just 247 deliveries.
During his knock, Sehwag simply made a mockery out of Pakistani pacer Naved Ul Hasan. In an over bowled by Hasan, Sehwag slammed 4 consecutive boundaries and got to his double ton in some style. It was a display, which just stunned everyone, as Sehwag simply thrashed the poor pacer.
Below, is the video of that over, where Sehwag thrashed Hasan for four consecutive boundaries.
