Just like Rohit Sharma, the Indian speedster too joined the Indian camp in Bengaluru two days prior to the start of the second Test match against Australia. But ironically, both are not the part of the squad and soon left the camp. Both of them headed towards Chennai, where their teams are to play their List A games.

Just like Rohit, Shami, in a bid to make a national comeback will now play two games of Vijay Hazare Trophy on March 4 and 6 to prove his match fitness.

Shami, who was injured before the start of the fourth Test match against England, underwent a rehabilitation to get match fit.

As per the rules laid by the new selection committee, a player has to prove his fitness in domestic cricket in order to make a comeback in the national squad. The Test squad for the final two Test matches is yet to be announced and here are high chances of Shami making a comeback to the team for the final two Test matches but for that, he has to prove his match fitness in domestic cricket.

Shami will play his first game after a period of three months against Madhya Pradesh on March 4.

Bengal squad for last matches: Manoj Tiwary (c), Shreevats Goswami, Sudip Chatterjee, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Abhishek Raman, Debabrata Das, Anustup Majumdar, Pankaj Shaw, Writtick Chatterjee, Pragyan Ojha, Aamir Gani, Ashoke Dinda, Sayan Ghosh, Kanishk Seth, Ishan Porel, Mukesh Kumar. Stand-byes: Pramod Chandra, Veer Pratap Singh, Mohammed Shami.
