After registering a loss in the first three game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016/17, Delhi finally registered a win in their fourth game of the tournament as the team registered a win over Tripura at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack by a margin of 70 runs.

After being asked to bat first, Delhi had a good start as Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan shared 59 runs for the first wicket but once again both went back in quick succession.

The responsibility again fell on the skipper Rishabh Pant to perform the duties with the bat and Pant this time, did well as he played a innings of 99, sharing 142 runs with Dhruv Shorey for the third wicket to keep Delhi in a race to a big total.

At the end, Delhi ended its innings on a huge total of 356, asking Tripura to scale the target in order to register a win.

Tripura though lost an early wicket but veteran batsman Yashpal Singh along with his other partners kept his team alive in the race to this total but still, Tripura fell short by a margin of 70 runs in the end.

Yashpal Singh was the star of the show as he played an innings of 115* and stood there till the end in the hopes of having this target but Delhi bowlers did not give away the game and took wickets at crucial moments to register first win for the state.
Though Delhi has already been kicked out of the tournament but this win could give them a reason to smile.
