The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni impressed on the day one of the Vijay Hazare Trophy as he played an innings of 43 but Jharkhand, which was chasing a target of 267, lost the game.
Jharkhand had a poor start as they lost two wickets for a score of three but middle order kept the team afloat.
Dhoni and Saurabh Tiwary shared 81 runs for the third wicket and generated hopes of a win but the wicket of Dhoni just broke their hopes.
Still, they made each and eery effort to steal a win but fell short by a margin of 22 runs at the end of the day.

Despite half-centuries from Gautam Gambhir and middle order batsman Dhruv Shorey, Delhi fell short by a margin of 42 runs and lost to Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu put on a big total of 314 on the board, thanks to an innings of 118 from Dinesh Karthik. He was well supported by Baba Indrajith, who propelled the team ahead to a score of 314.
Ashish Nehra starred with the ball for Delhi as he scalped four wickets at the cost of just 39 runs. Manan Sharma too bowled well as he scalped the three wickets before the completion of 20 over but went for runs at the end of the innings.
Delhi had a good start as the opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir shared 32 runs for the first wicket, with Dhawan making a contribution of 23 runs in the partnership. Gambhir then found a steady partner in form of Dhruv Shorey. Both shared 86 runs for the second wicket but the fall of Gambhir’s wicket was enough to mark the start of fall of wickets as Delhi lost its four wickets for 49 runs, including that of skipper Rishabh Pant at a score of five.
Milind Kumar with his innings of 68 tried his level best to keep Delhi in a race to this total but could not steer the team to a win at the end.
