Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016/17: Unfit Rohit Sharma Not Named In Mumbai Squad

The unfit batsman Rohit Sharma, who suffered an injury during the Test series against England has not been named in Mumbai squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016/17. There was news that Rohit might turn up for Mumbai to prove his case for the final two Test matches against Australia but later it came to notice that Rohit refused to play the tournament as he is not yet match-fit.
Aditya Tare has been named as the skipper of the team for the first three games. Dhawal Kulkarni has made a comeback to the squad after Mumbai veteran skipped many Ranji games and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy due to an injury. He will perform the fast bowling duties with Shardul Thakur, who hasn’t been included in the Indian squad for the first two Test matches against Australia.
The squad also includes Pravin Tambe, who was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auction. Vijay Gohil will assist him in spin bowling.
The batting line-up of the team is solid with likes of Shreyas Iyer, Siddhesh Lad, Akhil Herwadkar and young Prithvi Shaw. The veteran all-rounder Abhishek Nayar has also been named in the squad and will have a role to play.
Mumbai will play its first game against Gujarat on February 25.
