Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: Mandeep Singh to Lead Punjab Team

Mandeep Singh, the dynamic batsman, will lead Punjab in the upcoming Vijay Hazare One-Day Trophy starting from September 19.
Meanwhile, Punjab finds themselves in Elite Group A alongside Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Baroda, Mumbai, Vidarbha, Goa, Railways, and Maharashtra. They will start their campaign against Himachal Pradesh on September 19 (Wednesday).
However, surprisingly, Punjab have left Harbhajan Singh from their Vijay Hazare squad. Harbhajan led the side in the last year’s campaign which didn’t yield expected results. However, they have kept the veteran Yuvraj Singh, who recently posted pictures of hard training, in the squad. He will bring a lot of experience and will dynamics to the team.
Punjab, known for producing quality batters have named a strong squad packed with quality batsmen. They have Shubman Gill, who recently made his India A debut, Manan Vohra, Gurkeerat Mann, and the skipper Mandeep himself.
Senior campaigners Yuvraj and Mandeep Singh will eye this Vijay Hazare Trophy to present a case in front of the selectors.
Yuvraj Singh fell apart after failing to clear the mandatory Yo-Yo test and owing to poor form.
Furthermore, Punjab also has some quality bowlers in their ranks with Siddarth Kaul among the India reckoning. He is currently in UAE with the India squad as a net bowler but will join soon to take up the duties. Moreover, Barinder Sran and Manpreet Singh Goni also form a deadly combination.
Following their first game, Punjab will play Vidarbha (September 21), Maharashtra (September 23), Baroda (September 24), Mumbai (September 28), Railways (October 2), Goa (October 4) and Karnataka (October 8) in the league stage of the Vidarbha (September 21), Maharashtra (September 23), Baroda (September 24), Mumbai (September 28), Railways (October 2), Goa (October 4) and Karnataka (October 8) in the league stage of the List A tournament in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
