Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Umesh Yadav Opens Innings For Vidarbha, Scored 4 Runs
Of late, the T20 cricket has become the format of experiments. In one of those surprise experiments, we came across the flamboyant fast bowler Umesh Yadav to open the innings for Vidarbha in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019. However, it hasn’t lasted long, as he was dismissed on the second ball of the innings.
The incident took place in the game between Karnataka and Vidarbha in the super league phase of the tournament. He smashed a boundary off the first ball facing Karnataka skipper Vinay Kumar but then lost his wicket while trying to hit the ball away from his presence.
Vinay Kumar picked 2 wickets:
This was the 1st time Umesh ever batted in the Top 5 in his professional career. He batted as high as 6 only twice in previous 188 innings. The poor start led to the poor show from the team against Karnataka.
They never got the impetus to score runs for the team on a consistent basis. Further, they also lost wickets more often than not thus letting themselves in the troubled waters.
After losing Umesh Yadav early in the innings, they lost Ganesh Sathish and Jitesh Sharma in quick succession. The vows further stretched when Jagadeesh Suchith trapped Rishabh plumb in front of the wicket.
Atharva Taide was the only batsman, who looked decent with the bat. But, unfortunately, he was dismissed run out after knocking 28 runs during his stay at the crease. He numbered 3 boundaries in his 28-run knock.
For Karnataka, Vinay Kumar and Jagadeesh Suchith are the wicket-takers for the team. Vinay Kumar bagged a couple of wickets while Suchith picked one wicket. The other two wickets were dismissed in the run out fashion.
As far as the leagues’ points table is concerned, Vidarbha is at third with 8 points. On the other hand, Karnataka topped Super League Group B table with 12 points in three games.
