Vikram Limaye’s Exit A Big Loss To COA: Diana Edulji

Diana Edulji, a member of Committee of Administrator (COA) has said that Vikram Limaye’s exit from the committee is a big loss. The former Indian skipper heaped praise on Limaye for handling the financial dealings excellently,

“It will be a big loss. His inputs have been excellent in all the meetings. He has been a big help in financial dealings. Even when he represented BCCI at the ICC meeting in February, he got a grasp of the subject in real quick time,” Edulji told PTI.

Limaye, the veteran banker, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). His appointment has been approved by SEBI and as per the rule, he can’t hold two positions at one time. Hence, Limaye decided to opt for a move to NSE and he will be tendering his resignation ahead of Supreme Court on July 14.

Limaye will be the second member to leave COA as the noted historian Ramachandra Guha has already left The Supreme Court appointed a committee, citing loads of issues in BCCI. A day after leaving the committee, he wrote a letter to Vinod Rai, the Head of COA, in which he cited a total of seven points which he found to be wrong in working with the board. The Supreme Court will have to induct two new personalities to replace both the outgoing members.

Furter, on being asked of team India’s chances in the women’s World Cup, which will kick off later this month, Edulji said that India has a strong chance to qualify for the semi-final stage,

“The team is certainly bolstered by the return of Smriti Mandhana and have an eight-day camp in England before the event. They can only go up and semifinals has to be the first target. Where the team lacks is on the pace front. Barring Jhulan Goswami, it doesn’t have quality medium pacers and you need them to succeed in international cricket.”

COA had a meeting in Delhi on June 13 to discuss various matters. The meeting was also attended by Amitabh Choudhary via Skype from London. Distribution of one-time benefit to former Indian cricketers was one of the major steps which were taken during the meeting. COA is set to meet again on June 24 in Mumbai.
