The former New Zealand batsman, Lou Vincent has confessed to the tribunal investigating corruption in the BangladeshPremier League that he was approched by a bokkie during 2013 BPL season. He said that although he was offered by a bookie but he did not respond to him. Thus one of the member of the tribunal said that he had been subjected not to report the approach, otherwise as he did not respond he has not pleaded for other guilt like betting or match fixing.

“I can confirm that I admitted a breach in January 2013 of the ICC code in failing to report an approach from a bookmaker whilst playing in the Bangladesh T20 league,” Vincent said in a statement to the tribunal. “I confirm I rejected this approach at the time. There is no allegation or suggestion anything untoward occurred beyond the approach itself. I also express I have no involvement in any of the matches, or matters, involving the other parties, which were the subject of recent hearings and investigation in Bangladesh.” he added.

One of the three members on the BPL tribunal, Shakil Kasem, confirmed that Vincent has been accused only for not reporting against the bookie approach, but he confessed that he had chucked all the other proposals. Whereas Bangladesh former player Mohammad Ashraful has confessed in front of everyone that he commit the crime related to match fixing. There is another International player who has also been involved in this matter but the tribunal has not disclosed his name yet.

We’re going to review their guilty pleas, deliberate on that and come up with sanctions within two weeks,” Kasem said.

The BPL tribunal was unleashed on 26th of this month, in their investigation, they stated that only one player of Dhaka Gladiator was found gulity of “being party to an effort to fix” a match in the league, whereas the other six players are not found guilty.
