With Team India gearing up to take on Sri Lanka in the upcoming three-match ODI series under stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has given an insight on what to expect from the newly-appointed captain.
While most of the players will be playing under Rohit’s captaincy for the very first time, Chahal knows a thing or two about Rohit’s captaincy, having made his IPL debut under him in 2013. Chahal said that just like Kohli, Rohit is also an aggressive skipper who likes to lead from the front. At the same time, Chahal also refrained from captaincy styles of both the players.

“I made my IPL debut in 2013 and played my first match in Mumbai Indians under Rohit. Just like Virat bhai, Rohit is also an aggressive captain and likes to lead from the front. We cannot compare the two captains as both have their own style of leading the side but we are aware that they both are hungry for wins. Rohit has done a good job for the Mumbai Indian in the IPL and has led them to victory in the last edition of the IPL as well,” Chahal was quoted as saying by India TV news.

Rohit has already proved his mettle as captain after leading Mumbai Indian to record three IPL titles. In doing so, he has become the first captain to lead a side to three titles, leaving behind the likes of MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir.

Chahal further shed some light on why the current team is doing so well, crediting the unity among the players behind the team’s success.
“There is more unity in the team as we are all are of almost same age group, every player is aware of their roles in the current team and gels well with each other. The batsmen score enough runs every time they go out and give ample chance to the bowlers to have a go at the rival batsmen,” he opined.
