In the Test series against South Africa, Indian players have built many new records and also broken old records. A special record was that the three Indian batsmen scored double centuries in the same Test series.
In the first Test match played in the Visakhapatnam, Mayank Agarwal played the first Test match in the Indian soil and scored 215 runs. With this, he became the 23rd Indian batsman to score a double ton in Test. The visitors lost the first Test match by 203 runs.

In the second Test match played at Pune ground, Virat Kohli scored 254* runs against the Proteas and India set the mammoth total of 601 runs. It was Virat’s seventh double century in the Test. He broke the record of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar who scored six double centuries in Test Cricket. India won that Test match with an innings and 137 runs.

Rohit Sharma now scored a double century

In the ongoing third Test Match against South Africa, the double ton was hit by the Test opener Rohit Sharma which was his first double ton in the longest format. He became the third Indian cricketer to score a double century in the Test and ODIs. Rohit scored its sixth Test century in the Ranchi ground. In the First Test match against Proteas, he struck two centuries and helped India to set big totals.

Meanwhile, on the second day of the third Test match, India scored 497 at the loss of 9 wickets. Ajinkya Rahane scored his 11th Test century which was his 4th Test century in the Indian ground. Another surprising performance was from the pacer Umesh Yadav, who hit five sixes and with this, he became the third batsman in the Test history to slam two sixes off first two balls. So, the Test series against South Africa has been the record-breaking series for India.
