ToggleOn the second day of the Wellington Test, Indian captain Virat Kohli entered into the record books in Indian cricket history. He became the fourth Indian non-wicketkeeper to claim 250 catches in international cricket.
The Indian team is struggling in the first game of the two-match Test series against the hosts New Zealand at Wellington. At the stumps of the rain-interrupted day one of this particular Test match, India were battling on 122/5 while the Indian skipper Kohli scored just two runs. The Indian fans are not happy to see the best-ranked Test and ODI batsman failing miserably with the bat.

On day two, India were bundled out for 165 runs. At the stumps of day two, New Zealand posted 216/5 with the lead of 51 runs.
Just a few deliveries before the end of the second day’s play, the Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took his first wicket in this match after dismissing Henry Nicholls (17). Kohli took that catch at the second slip, and it was his 250th catch in the international career.

With that catch, Kohli became the fourth Indian non-wicketkeeper to take 250 international catches. Only Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar are ahead of him on this impressive list.
On the other hand, Kohli became the 16th overall non-wicketkeepers to claim 250 international catches.

Kohli, who made his international debut in August 2008, but he started to play all the international formats from 2011. While he is playing the 85th Test, he has also played 248 ODIs and 82 T20Is. Apart from being the great batsman and successful captain, he is also a top-level fielder who always remains energetic on the field.
