A very impressive aspect about Virat Kohli’s captaincy stint has been his ability to lead from the front and by example during Test matches. The series against England was a big example set forward by Kohli, as the lively middle-order batsman bailed India out of trouble on a few occasions. The master class put on display by Kohli at Mumbai mesmerized everyone as the batting sensation batted like an absolute legend.
Praising the skipper is India’s ever rock solid number three batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara, who himself had a fantastic series against England scoring two centuries, was full in awe of Kohli and said the Indian captain led from the front. Pujara spoke to Mid Day in Mumbai, on the sidelines of a domestic T20 tournament.
“We have a captain who leads from the front,” said Pujara. “Virat excels in all the aspects of the game and works on all departments. He shows others the way and always leads from the front.”
The right handed batsman said he would look to make the most out of his present form in India’s upcoming Test assignments against Bangladesh and Australia. “Yes, I am looking to continue in the same form — probably try and do even better than what I did against New Zealand and England. I can say that I have learnt from some of the mistakes that I made during the last two series and will continue working on my game,” said Pujara.
Pujara concluded by mentioning that the prospects of facing Australia would be challenging. The Saurashtra lad, however, was quite confident about the team’s chances against the Kangaroos. “Australia will be a challenging team, but we are playing well as a team and we have done well against New Zealand and England,” he concluded.
