Virat Kohli To Assess His 'Captaincy Load' In Three Years Time 1
Virat Kohli was India's highest run-scorer in the second Test against England.

After leading India to a massive 246-run win over England in the second Test, Indian Test captain Virat Kohli has said he’ll assess the load of his captaincy in Tests in three to four years time. During the post-match presentation, the right-handed batsman made it clear he is enjoying captaincy right now and is ready to take on challenges as they come.

“Maybe in three four years time I can analyse how much load I am feeling but at the moment’s coming along nicely so I am pretty okay with it.”

The 28-year-old was bestowed as the Player-of-the-Match in the Vizag Test for his knocks in both the innings, which helped India recover from dicey starts.

“It’s a difficult thing to detach yourself from being captain when you go out there to bat especially when you are playing five batters. The responsibility obviously increases much more. But it also makes me not hit the ball in the air which I probably prefer in Test cricket.”

Backing his ability to play grounded shots more often than not, Virat said he is happy with his scoring rate and doesn’t feel the need to go for fancy strikes.

“Honestly, I don’t feel the need to do that because I believe in my abilities to play on the ground and still score at a healthy rate. So I don’t need to try any fancy things plus I also feel the more you stay on the wicket, the more time you spend, things start getting easier.”

Revealing the reason behind his success in the limited-over format where Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the captain, the Delhi lad said he concentrates more on his batting which really helps him in the end.

Virat Kohli holds an average of 52.93 in One Day Internationals for India.

“In other formats, it’s relatively easy on the mind to prepare, because you are only thinking about batting, obviously you have to give inputs on the field but it’s not necessary that you have to take those decisions, you have to give suggestions.

To keep a check on each and every thing and then to concentrate on your batting, it does take a toll on you but right now I am pretty fine.”

India will face England in the third Test match at Mohali, starting 26th November.
