Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s comparison is a never-ending story. Both have been compared because currently, they are the best batsmen of their nation. Also, they belong to the two rival countries so the fans keep debating about the best player between the two. However, the veteran Ravichandran Ashwin believes that comparing Babar Azam with Virat Kohli is unfair.
Babar Azam, the 25-year-old Pakistan ODI and T20I captain had gained fame with his batting in a short period of his international career. Many say that he has a reflection of India’s captain Virat Kohli’s batting.
The youngster, who made the debut in 2015, has so far played 26 Tests, 74 ODIs and 38 T20Is, scoring 1850, 3359 and 1471 runs respectively.
A comparison will build pressure on Babar Azam: Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin, who has played 71 Tests and 111 ODIs for India, opines that he enjoys Babar Azam’s batting. He also applauded his century in Australia in the Test series earlier this year.
However, he believes that comparing the youngster with the finest cricketer like Virat Kohli is unfair. He added that it might build pressure on Babar, who is a rising cricketer.
“I really enjoy Babar Azam’s batting. I watched the century he scored in Australia. Comparisons with Virat Kohli will put pressure on him, which is unfair. Kohli is one of the finest cricketers the world has produced. I am sure Babar’s time will come too,” Ashwin opined on the Babar vs Kohli debate as quoted by ARY Sports.
Babar ready to play against England
The Pakistan stalwart averages over 50 in the limited-overs game while his average in the longest format of the game is 45.1. Currently, he is with his team in England to play the three-match Test and T20I series, starting from August.
Pakistan had already landed in England earlier this month to follow the quarantine period. The Test series will start from August 5 while the T20I series will begin from 28 August.
