Virat Kohli Been Asked To Adjust With Anil Kumble

Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), consisting of former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly, reportedly decided to retain current Team India coach Anil Kumble as the head mentor until the end of West Indies tour.
Looking up on current issues and also the fact that Kumble had been just appointed a year back with success coming his way, it got tough for the CAC members to solve the problem in this hour. It might take time at least one week after Champions Trophy, as the team travels to the Caribbean for a short trip.
In view of such a situation, a top source was quoted saying that Kohli has been told to ‘adjust’ for a while more.
“The CAC has bought some time for Kumble and ensured he is not ignominiously removed after India’s run in the Champions Trophy. He will travel with the team to West Indies. It’s a short tour so there shouldn’t be any problems,” said the source.
The report noted that the CAC has met BCCI CEO Rahul Johri at a London hotel on Thursday night and conveyed their unanimous decision, adding that trio had also met Kumble and Kohli separately. It is understood that the CAC is also having separate voices on this matter. For the moment, there is no clarity on when, if at all, the CAC will conduct the pending interviews with the other coaching applicants.
A decision on Kumble’s future is expected to be taken on 26 June during a Special General Meeting (SGM). What might have worked in the veteran cricketer’s favour is the fact that majority of the senior members including acting BCCI president CK Khanna and IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla are against his hasty removal.
The rumours say that the friction between the Kumble and the team has been ongoing since the England series, and had continued into the Australia series as well. However, the good results did not reflect the unrest among the Indian camp. Kumble, who did not have any previous coaching experience at this level, was only given a one-year contract in June 2016, in order to provide the BCCI with the opportunity to reassess his position should the need arise.
India will play five ODIs and a T20 match against West Indies between 23 June and 9th July.
