Indian commentator and former captain Sunil Gavaskar believes current Indian skipper Virat Kohli can score four double centuries this year as the latter managed an impressive 235-run knock against England on Sunday.

Virat Kohli has been in the form of his life this year as he has piled up runs in all the three formats of the life with ease and has looked a league above from all the other batsmen in the world.

The skipper has managed to break MS Dhoni’s 224-run inning to achieve another record for the highest score by an Indian captain ever in a test match. The 28-year old have now scored three double centuries this year and Sunil Gavaskar believes he can score another double ton in the final test at Chennai.

“Kohli can very well score four double centuries in India still have one more Test to play against England. His form, throughout the year, has been brilliant. And his 235 at the Wankhede Stadium was absolutely special,” Gavaskar told NDTV.

“I think the people present at the stadium on Sunday were privileged to see such a master-class. There were several youngsters in the stands and it would be a great learning experience for them.”

“The way he was running between the wickets shows a great deal about his physical fitness. With improved fitness, you become mentally stronger. Kohli didn’t allow any sort of weakness. He scored runs quickly and was mentally sharp,” Gavaskar said.

The legendary batsman has also hailed young Jayant Yadav who have scored his maiden Test ton as he managed an impressive 251 run stand with Virat Kohli to keep India on top at the end of the first innings.

“I must say that he batted like Virat Kohli in the first hour of play. That is the biggest compliment that I can give him. His performance shows the bench strength of the Indian team,” Gavaskar said.

Gavaskar also believes that the match could end in the first session itself on Day 5 as England have only 4 wickets left as they still trail India by 51 runs.

“India can finish the game in the first session itself. I believe the match will end around lunch,” he said.
