“I think it has got a lot to do with Virat’s outstanding commitment besides his preparation. I don’t think he is any more talented than a KL Rahul or a Rohit Sharma, but his commitment to preparing himself properly stands out. He is, for me, the cricketing equivalent of Cristiano Ronaldo,” Lara told PTI.

“His fitness level and his mental strength are unbelievable. His batting skills are unbelievable. He is a guy you cannot leave out in any era. If a guy is averaging 50 plus in all versions of the game, then that is something which is unheard of,” Lara added.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is busy in playing the home ODI series against West Indies. India has lost the first ODI match in Chennai and will head to play the second game in Visakhapatnam. The Indian skipper didn’t have a good day at Chennai as he lost his wicket early. Though the youngsters took forward the game yet, the host could not defend their target. West Indies has got the lead of 1-0 in the three-match ODI series. India needs to make a comeback in the second ODI to remain in the race.
