India, or rather say the entire South-east Asia, is education-obsessed. The emphasis on making the kids study in the best of schools and harbouring high expectations from them is not something new. It has been a norm for many years.

The result of having such dedicated attention on making education the priority has been very fruitful, as India is considered to be one of the smartest countries in the world.

But, this is only one side of the coin. Many people tend to ignore the downside of this obsession which is slowly becoming a problem as overly demanding parents who are motivated by their ego rather than love start showing a lack of empathy and, knowingly or unknowingly, tend to emotional abuse the kids.

Since yesterday, a video of a troubled kid has gone viral on social media. The kid looks frustrated with the teaching session and is in tears begging for a break. However, the parent/teacher seems to be too rigid to understand the fact and continues yelling at the boy, making him more insecure and annoyed.

This scenes have not gone down well with the people on social media and has received a lot of criticism.

The matter reached its curve when Indian skipper Virat Kohli came across the clip and was taken aback by it. The stunned 28-year-old couldn’t help but share his view on the video through an Instagram post.

Condemning the video he wrote:

“The fact that the pain and anger of the child is ignored and one’s own ego to make the child learn is so massive that compassion has totally gone out of the window. This is shocking and saddening to another dimension. A child can never learn if intimidated. This is hurtful.”
