Virat Kohli Conferred With Padma Shri By Government Of India
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been conferred with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India on Republic day. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award that is bestowed to a personality for distinguished contribution in Arts, Education, Industry, Literature, Science, Sports, Medicine, Social Service and Public Affairs.
Virat Kohli presented his case with an impressive show in the year 2016. The Delhiite scored a total of 1215 runs in 12 Test matches played last year at an average of 75.93. He also eclipsed the two hundred run mark thrice, becoming the only captain to achieve this record in the history of Indian cricket. His form in ODI cricket was the same as the newly crowned limited overs captain, produced a total of 924 runs with the bat, at an average of 84, with striker rate of 101.31, which showed his aggression with the bat.
His form with the bat in T20I cricket was something that kept him above from every player as he amassed 641 runs last year at an unimaginable average of 106.83.
All in all, 2016 was a dream year for him in which everything Kohli touched turned its colour to gold.
Kohli is not the only cricketer to be bestowed with Padma Shri as Shekhar Naik, the skipper of India blind cricket team, has also been awarded the same award by the Government of India.
Both the players will receive their award at a ceremony which will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the month of March/April.
