India skipper Virat Kohli, on Saturday, was felicitated by Shivaji Park Gymkhana. The recently named limited-overs captain reached the ground in Dadar, one of the densely populated areas in Mumbai, where he was felicitated by SPG Chairman Avinash Kamat, Ramchandran and SPG committee member Sanil Samel.

Kohli is not the first cricketer to be honoured by Shivaji Park as earlier they have felicitated many other former cricketers including legendary Sunil Gavaskar. Apart from that, the Gymkhana in 2010, honoured Ramakant Achrekar with a lifetime award.

Shivaji park Gymkhana is one of the oldest clubs in Mumbai, which was built in 1909 and completed its hundred years in 2009.

The Indian Cricket team had a stellar 2016 under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. After defeating the West Indies 2-0 in a four-match series, India thrashed New Zealand and England 3-0 and 4-0 respectively to maintain their top spot in the ICC Test Rankings.

Soon after becoming the limited-overs skipper, Kohli stamped his authority straightaway with the ODI and T20I series against England 2-1.

His next assignment will be the one-off Test against Bangladesh, which begins from February 9.
