Virat Kohli holds numero uno position in the ICC T20I batting rating
There is good news for Indian vice-captain in T20I Virat Kohli as in the latest ICC T20I batting ranking he topped the list. There is no other Indian batsman in the top 10 list, but Suresh Raina ranked 11th just two points behind David Warner of Australia.
The list is also comprised of two English, two Australians, two New Zealanders, one West Indian, one Sri Lankan, and one South African.
Virat Kohli will play three-match T20 series against South Africa scheduled to start on October 2, Dharamsala.
The prolific Indian batsman will play his first T20 after one year of the gap. His last appearance in Twenty 20 was against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham, in which India lost the match by three runs after a hard fought battle.
Kohli scored 66 run innings which had gone in vain, but his innings caused a personal benefit as he grabbed the numero uno post.
Kohli has 897 rating points in September 2014. But, India did not play any match in the last one year. So, his rating points decreased to 861.
Aaron Finch, Australia’s T20 captain is the second best in the list with 854 rating points. Like Kohli, he played his last T20 match on April 2014. He missed the one-off T20I against England at Cardiff, in which Australia won the match.
Kohli Will have a chance to increase the rating points in the three-match series, which will be played in Dharamsala, Cuttack and Kolkata.
The only batsman, who featured in the top ten list, played a T20I this is South Africa captain Faf du Plessis. His last appearance was in July, 2015 against Bangladesh.
Du Plessis , who would lead Proteas in the three match T20I series against India, ranked fourth in the list with 843 rating points.
As the India v South Africa will start on October 2 among the many things, ranking will also be at stake.
Among the other notable T20 batsman, Chris Gayle ranked at number 5, while New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum ranked sixth. Australian opener David Warner, who played the one off T20 against England, ranked 10th.
