The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, honoured an Indian journalist R Kaushik on the eve of his 100th Test match. The well-known journalist is a scribe with Wisden India, who recently interviewed Indian chief selector MSK Prasad in Sri Lanka. Kohli presented a jersey to the journalist and had words of praise for him,
”It is a great achievement and I think you are one of those who truly understand the game, not looking for any masala, and I am really happy to present this Indian jersey to you and I hope you continue with your good work,” said the Indian skipper.

It is a record Test for Cheteshwar Pujara as well. He will play his 50th Test match when he takes the field on August 3 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Pujara made his Test debut in the year 2010 against Australia in Bangalore and scored a half century in a winning cause.

Meanwhile, ahead of the second Test match against Sri Lanka, skipper Kohli confirmed the comeback of KL Rahul. The opening batsman was to feature in the playing XI right from the first game but he suffered viral fever and didn’t take part in the game. Shikhar Dhawan replaced him on the side and now with him coming back, the captain has to make a call between Abhinav Mukund and Dhawan.
Going by what was said in the pre-match presser, chances of Dhawan getting an edge over Mukund look brighter because he has more impact than him, a crucial point which a batsman needs to have, as mentioned by Kohli. Still, the final will be taken ahead of the game.
India leads the series by a margin of 1-0 at the moment and the visitors will look to dominate the depleted Sri Lankan side, so as to take a lead in the series. If the Indian team is able to continue their winning run in Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli will become first ever Indian captain to win two Test series there. In fact, last time when India toured the nation in 2015, he became the first captain after 22 years to win a Test series here.
