While the jury is still out on whether Virat Kohli is the best batsman of this generation, the former England captain Kevin Pietersen seems to have made up his mind.
The likes of Steven Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson have made an enormous mark in international cricket with their consistent batting, but Pietersen believes Kohli is the greatest batsman of his generation.

The batting legend made his claim shortly after Virat Kohli slammed his 20th Test and the 52nd international century in the ongoing third and final Test against Sri Lanka at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla. The 29-year old came into the match on the back of two sublime knocks in the last two Tests and cashed in on his red-hot form.
After slamming 104 not out and 213 in the first two games, the right-handed scored his third century in the series.

The knock helped the Indian run-machine to surpass the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become the second fastest Indian batsman to score 20 hundred in Test cricket. Kohli reached the milestone in his 105th innings while Tendulkar had taken 107 innings to achieve the feat.
The list is led by former skipper Sunil Gavaskar who had achieved the milestone in just 93 innings. Kohli also became the quickest to complete 52 international centuries across formats, accomplishing the feat in his 350th innings to beat South African Hashim Amla’s record of 378 innings.

It was Kohli’s eleventh century of the year across formats, and it made him only the third player after Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting to score 11 tons in a calendar year. He also became the first captain to score three consecutive hundreds in a three-match Test series as well. The Delhi-born star further went past 5000 Test runs in the ongoing game.
