Virat Kohli Has Learnt A Lot From Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Says Raj Kumar Sharma
Virat Kohli’s childhood mentor Raj Kumar Sharma recalled that his ward loves any kind of a challenge he used to throw at him, before adding that the additional responsibility would make him best in business after captaining India across all three formats as he has gained some experience while being a skipper in longer format so far which yielded some awe-inspiring results.
“Virat is a kind of a player who likes challenges and prepares well when he gets additional responsibility and god has been kind where he has been successful in delivering,” Sharma said on Kohli.
Kohli replaced his former national side captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni after the team was announced for limited-overs series against England on January 6.
“I hope he will emulate the similar success he had in the Test format and play positive cricket,” Sharma added.
Kumar believes Kohli will take a leaf out of Dhoni’s captaincy book as he has been learning while playing under him.
Former skipper Dhoni’s presence at the ground will help Kohli in terms of overall experience as he is seen as a guide to the side.
“Dhoni is one the best captains India has ever had and Virat, who used to be vice-captain, learnt a lot from him and I believe Virat is going to learn more on remaining calm and cool in tough situations, his presence on the ground would be very helpful for Kohli,” Sharma concluded.
The aggressive cricketer Kohli who has often show his class with the bat so far has played 176 One-day Internationals and 45 Twenty20 games for India. In which he has amassed 7570 and 1657 runs respectively.
The 27-year-old Kohli has been at the forefront to put his side in comfortable position whenever it struggled. He averages 52.93 in ODIs and 57.13 in T20s.
In a recent announcement, the selection panel has included Yuvraj Singh in ODI and T20 squad while fast bowler Ashish Nehra was recalled into the T20 squad.
Meanwhile, Delhi batsman Rishabh Pant earned a maiden call for the national side.
