Virat Kohli Named in Delhi's Preliminary Ranji Squad 1

India skipper Virat Kohli has been named in Delhi’s preliminary Ranji squad, which was announced by the state association after a meeting attended by selectors and coach last week.

Apart from Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma and Rishab Pant are the three other players who have been named in the side.

First talking of Ishant, though is the only member of the Test team, with India set to play an extended limited-overs home season, there can be a chance when selectors might give their most experienced bowler a go in the limited-overs format as well.

Coming to Pant, he is always on fringes to be selected in the national side and have bright chances of getting selected during the home season. Kohli and Dhawan will undoubtedly miss the whole domestic season due to international commitments.

Delhi selectors have not named any captain as of now. Earlier, they used to announce the leader of the team, but with no clarity over the fact whether Gautam Gambhir will lead the team or not, selectors have opted a safe process. Rishabh Pant was appointed as captain of Delhi side in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season when selectors decided to take away captaincy from Gambhir, and now it will be surprising if the same process continues.
