Virat Kohli Needs To Be Just More Consistent: Sourav Ganguly

Virat Kohli’s selection of team has always been in talks and also has not satisfied former cricketer Sourav Ganguly. The skipper face criticism because he is not consistent with the final XI. He was again in a talk for his selection of team against West Indies.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the best player against West Indies, was not given the place in final XI in teh Antigua Test which becomes the talk of the town. Kohli’s decision was reflected as wrong though final XI showed outstanding performance in the first Test match against West Indies.

Virat Kohli needs to be just more consistent in Team Selection

Ganguly expressed that he was surprised after the selection of team as Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav were not in the team despite their satisfactory performances. Further said that Virat Kohli had to become consistent in the selection of the team and give full opportunity to the player.

“Virat needs to just be a bit more consistent— pick players and give them a bit more consistent opportunities — for them to get that confidence, rhythm, I have said that before. You saw how Shreyas Iyer played in that ODI series (against West Indies), you pick him and you give him the freedom to play those matches and I think that needs to happen with a lot of players and I am sure Virat will do that,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

“I was surprised to see Kuldeep Yadav left out because the last Test he played against Australia, he got five wickets in Sydney on a good flat pitch. But Jadeja also has been in good form, the surface yesterday at Antigua needed three fast bowlers because we saw the seam movement the fast bowlers got and it was a question of the spin,” Ganguly added.

The first opening Test Match for team India in West Indies soil was a good one. The total score was 297, which West Indies have faced tough to cross and are behind 118 runs. Ravindra Jadeja‘s selection in the team proved to be the right decision for Virat Kohli. He made a half-century and took the first innings total to 297.
