Virat Kohli is loved all over the world not only for his batting but for his kind heartedness and the respect he has for the players around. He is leading India towards some great heights; he has already won a majority of the Test matches he has captained. Kohli led India to a 9-0 whitewash across all three formats against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. India won 3-0 in Tests, 5-0 in ODI’s and won the lone T20.
India and Pakistan have had a fair share of history on the field as well as off the field. The last time India and Pakistan played a full-fledged series in 2007. Tensions off the field since then have not allowed the two teams to play a full series. Kohli has played 10 ODI’s against Pakistan and has had a mixed record against the arch rivals. Kohli has two centuries against them and a total of 373 runs against them.
People in Pakistan have a soft corner for the flamboyant Indian skipper. They like him for his integrity and passion towards the game. He won hearts all over the world on teacher’s day when he posted a picture of himself sitting in front of a wall with all the legendary cricketer’s name on the wall. And he wrote, “To all the teachers around the world and especially to the ones in the Cricket World. #HappyTeachersDay”.
People in Pakistan were very impressed with this gesture as the wall had names of some great Pakistani Players like Imran Khan, Inzamam Ul-Haq and Javed Miandad amongst others. He thanked all of them for showing the present era how it’s done. Pakistani Fans were thoroughly impressed with Kohli for including Pakistani names and showered love and respect to Kohli on Twitter.
He certainly has gained some popularity and love in Pakistan which is rare for an Indian cricketer.
