Virat Kohli Or Sachin Tendulkar? S Sreesanth Reveals His Pick: Watch
S Sreesanth is the latest cricketer to have his say on the much talked-about Sachin Tendulkar vs Virat Kohli debate.
Ever since Virat Kohli started churning out runs, he has been compared with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, the most decorated batsman in the history of the game. And with Kohli scoring runs at a remarkable consistency, the comparison refuses to die down.
Just a handful of months ago, Kohli broke Tendulkar’s record to become the fastest batsman to record 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. Kohli achieved the feat in 205 innings while Tendulkar took 259. Kohli has scored 17 more hundreds than Tendulkar after 208 innings. At just 30, Kohli has scored an incredible 39 centuries in ODIs and needs 11 more to break Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons.
Tendulkar represented India for 24 years and shattered all records possible and set some that still remain. He ended with 34,357 runs from 664 games, including 100 hundreds as well. Tendulkar’s tally of 15921 Test runs remains the most in Test cricket and so does his total of 18426 runs in ODIs.
The debate recently made it to the news again when Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul chose Kohli over Tendulkar when asked to pick the better batsman between the two on talk show Koffee with Karan. Well, the latest to reveal his pick on the much-talked about topic is former India pacer S Sreesanth.
But unlike Pandya and Rahul, the banned pacer picked Tendulkar over Kohli. S Sreesanth went on to say that ‘God of Cricket’ Tendulkar cannot be compared to any human being. Sreesanth, who won the 2011 World Cup with Tendulkar, revealed how he was inspired by the legendary batsman.
“Everybody calls him Sachin bhai but I address him (Sachin Tendulkar) as paaji for a reason. I respect Virat for whatever he has done but Sachin paaji can never be replaced or can never be compared to any other new or old cricketer. Sachin Tendulkar for the next 1000 generation will be someone who gave hope to the small cricketers like me never even thought that I could play club cricket,” S Sreesanth told Latestly.
