ToggleIndian skipper Virat Kohli was seen fuming and having an animated chat with head coach Ravi Shastri after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal during the semi-finals against New Zealand at Old Trafford. India lost their top three batters in quick succession as Matt Henry and his pace brigade went all over India.

Virat Kohli on his reaction post-dismissal
In the post-match conference, Kohli was asked about his poor scores in knock-out games at the World Cup. The 30-year-old said that he was disappointed at not being able to contribute when the team needed it the most. The prolific scorer, with 41 ODI tons to his name, was dismissed by Trent Boult in the third over of India’s innings. The ball took a sharp movement towards the middle stump after pitching on the leg stump. Kohli failed to get his bat down in time as the ball trapped his pads. Kohli was given out though DRS review showed the white leather had just kissed the top of the stumps. He said it is quite obvious to be disappointed as getting dismissed for a low score is never pleasing. He termed it has a natural reaction and nothing else.

On his animated talk with Shastri
On being asked to reveal his animated talk with Shastri, Kohli said ” With Ravi bhai I was discussing what happened and what is the plan going forward from that situation and what kind of information needs to be sent out there in the middle so we can access where the game needs to go. So yeah! these were the events that happened.”

India finished the group stages on top of the points table. They conceded defeat to England and won the rest of the seven games. Opener Rohit Sharma ended the tournament with five hundred while Jasprit Bumrah bagged 18 wickets.
