Virat Kohli Should Include Senior Players for World Cup Squad – Yograj Singh
The 2011 World Cup Winning hero Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh has advice for Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Yograj Singh who has always been a big supporter of his son believes Virat Kohli should include senior players for the World Cup squad.
Yograj Singh believes age is just a number. In fact, Yograj Singh said that his son is still fit as a fiddle and can continue to play cricket for the next three to four years.
It is going to be a difficult road back.
Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh isn’t in the best of forms in the recent past. He has failed to deliver the goods with the bat for the Punjab side and is not at all on the radar of the Indian selectors for the World Cup event.
However, Yograj Singh is optimistic that his son can once again play at the topmost level of the game. In fact, there is no word like ‘Give-Up in Yuvraj Singh’s dictionary. Though, with fitness and form not on his side, the return looks bleak.
Yuvraj’s father, Yograj, a former cricketer himself quoted “My son is fit, is working very hard, and can play cricket for another three to four years,” he feels and adds, “Age does not matter. The World Cup is a big tournament and it cannot be won only with youngsters in the side. When Sourav Ganguly was India captain, he kept a balance of senior and junior players in the side and Dhoni got a ready-made team from him. Similarly, Kohli should also include seniors in the side,” believing, Yuvi cannot be written off.
On the other hand, Chetan Sharma believes it is hard for Yuvraj to make a comeback at the International level. Yuvraj played the last ODI in Indian colours in June 2017 when India locked horns with the Windies.
A lot of competition.
“There is a lot of competition now. His competitors are not only the youngsters in the team but also players who are knocking the doors. After scoring 159 runs in a Test recently, Pant could not find a place (in ODI squad) even though he is a player of the limited over games,” Chetan Sharma quoted.
Yuvraj Singh will need to come up with extraordinary performances in the domestic circuit to attract eyeballs of the selectors. However, it is not going to be a cakewalk for the champion batsman.
