Virat Kohli Skips Rest To Lift The Morale Of The Team After WC Exit – Reports

The Virat Kohli-led Indian National Cricket Team looked solid than ever going into the ICC World Cup 2019. They looked worth candidates to lift the trophy, especially, after finishing Group stages on top of the table. But, unfortunately, they failed to make it so, as they were knocked out by New Zealanders.
After the major heartbreak, now, India will travel to West Indies for a full series. It comprises two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is. Ahead of the squad announcement, there were many reports, which suggested that the selection panel would rest Virat Kohli, as he carried a lot of burden in the recent past.
However, surprising one and all, Virat Kohli opted to play for India. The reason behind it earns Kohli great respect, as he wants to lift the morale of the team after losing the world cup in England. He wants to lift the spirits of the players and wants to make them focus on the present.
Virat Kohli doesn’t want the team to travel with low morale:
After MSK Prasad announcing the squads for the Windies tour on Sunday, Virat was named in the team for the entire tour comprising three ODIs, as many T20Is and two Tests. Meanwhile, several reports surfaced that Virat had initially asked the selection committee to rest him for the Windies tour but made a u-turn in order to secure captaincy.
However, a source has rubbished all the reports. The source said that the dressing room morale was extremely low after Team India’s heart-shattering exit from the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2019 and Virat didn’t want the team to travel alone with low morale on their next tour.
“The dressing room morale was extremely low following India’s exit from the semi-final of the World Cup. Virat didn’t want to leave the team alone in low morale on the next immediate tour (versus West Indies) and took the onus on himself to bring positiveness back into the team.”
”The World Cup exit had demoralised everyone within the team and Virat thought it would be unfair on his part to stay away from the team at the moment. So he decided to go to the West Indies and lead from the front rather than leaving the team alone when it needs its leader the most,” sources said to Times Now.
The India vs West Indies will begin from August 3 with the three-match T20I series. The first two T20Is will be played at Florida. The T20I series will be followed by three ODIs and two Test matches.
