In the Test series against Pakistan, Steve Smith completed 7000 Test runs but lost his place of No.1 Test batsman. Meanwhile, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored his first Test century with the Pink ball in the last home series against Bangladesh and it has helped to return him to the position of No.1 Test batsman.

Steve Smith was commendable in the comeback Test series in Ashes 2019. The player was the highest run-scorer in the five-match Test series. The right-hand batsman in Ashes played four Test matches as he was ruled out of one match because of injury though Smith continued his stunning performance. He scored 774 runs in 4 Test matches and became the No.1 Test batsman replacing Virat Kohli from the position.

However, the Australian cricketer only managed to score 40 runs in the recent two-match home Test series against Pakistan. He completed his 7000 runs in the Test series and surpassed the record of Sir Donald Bradman who scored 6996 runs. He also became the 11th batsman to reach the mark of 7000 runs.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored a double century in the Pune Test against South Africa and then a century against Bangladesh in Pink ball game in home series. It has raised the ranking of Virat Kohli and brought him back to his throne of No.1 Test batsman.

The opener David Warner has entered in the top five in the ICC Test batting ranking. He also made a comeback in the Tests during the Ashes 2019 with Steve Smith but was unimpactful in all those Test matches.  In the Pakistan series, the player stood for his team and scored his first triple Test century. He scored unbeaten 335 runs in the second Test match and is now the No.5 Test batsman in the cricket world.
