Virat Kohli Wishes His Cricketing Idol Sachin Tendulkar on His 46th Birthday
Team India skipper Virat Kohli conveyed his birthday wishes to his cricketing idol Sachin Tendulkar who turned 46 today. Virat Kohli has been a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar over the years and has quite often revealed that it was only because of Sachin Tendulkar, he started playing cricket seriously and wanted to take up the game seriously.
Taking to his twitter handle, Virat Kohli wrote, “Wish you a very Happy B’day Paaji, have a great year ahead. @sachin_rt. There is certainly no doubt about the fact that Virat is the best modern-day batsman but Kohli himself credits his cricketing career to Sachin Tendulkar. He even shed his tears when Sachin Tendulkar announced his retirement from international cricket.
After winning the 2011 World Cup, it was Virat Kohli who said on air that Sachin Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 20 years and it was time we carried him on our shoulders. This particular quote goes onto prove the respect Virat Kohli has for the little master. Time and again he has been compared with Sachin Tendulkar.
Kohli however has often said that it is unjust on Sachin tendulkar’s part to be compared with him as his achievements and his contribution to Indian and world cricket remains unmatched. In one of the interviews, Virat Kohli had recalled some of his childhood memories where he said that for him cricket only meant Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin Rames Tendulkar is regarded as one of the pioneers of Indian cricket who had a massive influence on not only Indian fans but also the foreign fans. He is still widely regarded as the greatest batsman ever to grace the game. Even Don Bradman before his death had said that watching Tendulkar on television makes him believe that he almost plays the way as he did so many years ago.
Meanwhile Virat Kohli has also taken batting advices from the Master whenever he has found the going tough. After a horrendous tour of England in 2014, Kohli took the advice from the Master on how to improve on certain areas of his batting. After scoring a half-century in the 2007 World T20 match against Pakistan, Kohli bowed down to the master who was sitting in the crowds.
