Virat Kohli A World Class Player But Yet To See His Best: Brett Lee 1

Brett Lee was a gem of a bowler during his time. With a new ball in his hand – of any colour – he used to instil fear in a batsman’s mind due to the pace he generated and added with the swing he had, it was a headache for any batsman to play the fast bowler.

Apart from acting, the former Aussie has turned into a commentator, giving the ball by ball news to fans in TNPL. The presence of the star along with Matthew Hayden has already attracted audiences in the stadium and has forced other to be glued to their TV sets. The presence of these two has brought the stardom factor in the league, especially Lee, who has a big fan following in India. He has worked with renowned singer Asha Bhosle earlier, after which his popularity increased in the country.

He is a regular visitor to India and of course, follows Indian cricket closely. In a talk with TOI, Lee opened up about his favourite fast bowler in Indian cricket team. Along with it, he also talked about Virat Koli, where he mentioned that the right-handed batsman is a world class player but the world is yet to see the best of him. Here are the excerpts  –

On Virat Kohli

We all know the type of player Virat is, and his technique is impeccable. There has been a lot of media hype around him nicking on deliveries (outside the off-stump) but that was a few years ago. He has certainly changed that and tightened up his technique. His hunger to score runs game after game and his mental strength makes Virat a world-class player. I believe we haven’t seen the best of Kohli yet. He is still young and I and my son (Preston Charles) are massive fans of Kohli as we are of Sachin Tendulkar.

On Indian Bowler who has impressed him the most

I am a great fan of this Indian team and they have got bowlers who have raw pace. Mohammed Shami, if he is fully fit, is a bowler who really impresses me. Shami is quick, has got pace and hits the right lengths on a consistent basis. Jasprit Bumrah is another serious talent in the Indian side. He possesses a different and a unique action which works for him. He has good pace as well.

IPL and TNPL sensation Washington Sundar

I have become a big fan of Washington. He has got great all-around skills and excels not just with bat or ball but also on the field. He definitely is a player for the future.
