It was a perfect day as the cricket fraternity was celebrating the birthday of the “God of Cricket” Sachin Tendulkar. Fans had their own style of celebrating the day. In one part of the country, fans were cutting a cake of hundred kg’s and was praying for Sachin. In another part of the country, fans paid tribute to the master by organising a cricket tournament. But it was the day for the master’s biggest follower to pay tribute to him and Virat surely stole all the limelight with his century.
The star batsman paid a perfect tribute to the master blaster by scoring a century on his birthday; this was the superlative way to honour him. This oblation from Virat will be cherished by Sachin Tendulkar lifetime.
Scoring the century was never an easy task for Virat as the star played had a tough work to score 15 runs in the last over but with a boundary on the last ball of the innings Virat ended his century drought in this format too.
There was some homogeneity in the century scored by Virat Kohli yesterday and one scored by Sachin Tendulkar way back in 2011.
Starting with the end result of the match, despite centuries the respective teams of both the players failed to win the match as on both the occasions the opposition team successfully chased down the target. And the second similarity is that both the players completed their century on the last ball of the innings. Sachin needed just one run on the last ball whereas Virat had a tough task as he needed four runs off the last ball.
Both Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar have shared always good chemistry and it was evident from the epic scenes from World T20 last month. Virat Kohli bowed down to the god of cricket after completing his half century. Sachin too applauded the young batsman by praising him openly. Virat Kohli won many hearts through this act as we rarely see someone crediting his success to someone else openly. With this act Virat took the level of respect for Sachin to another level and the scenes will be remembered for a long time to come.
Scoring a century on God’s birthday was probably the best way to pay tribute to the person whom you have admired from childhood and the tribute will be a “Tribute to remember” for Sachin Tendulkar throughout his life.
