Virat kohli’s wicket the most satisfyimg, says Suranga Lakmal’s mother
Suranga Lakmal weaved magic with his spells in the first Test match against India at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The bowler picked up four wickets in the first innings which bundled a gutsy an Indian batting line for a mere score of 172 runs. Lakmal was the only Sri Lankan bowler who looked dangerous when India travelled to the island nation earlier this year but was unfortunate to be ruled out with an injury.
Lakmal returned to India to complete his mission and did it perfectly. However, out of the wickets, he took in the first innings, his mother S.H Chandralatha was delighted to see his son wrap up Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Without a shade of doubt, the valuable wicket of the Indian captain and the arguably the best cricketer of the current era gave her the ultimate satisfaction.
Speaking over the telephone from Sri Lanka, she said:
“Virat Kohli’s wicket gave me more satisfaction”. “Yes, the opener was out first ball but this he has done in the past also (West Indies’ Gayle’s wicket, at Pallekele, 2010-11). The captain (Kohli) was out for no score. He is a very dangerous batsman in the world. His batting record against Sri Lanka has been good. It was a difficult wicket to achieve of a superb batsman”.
“Lokesh Rahul is also a good batsman but I reckon Kohli’s wicket was more satisfying”.
“Suranga did a very outstanding bowling. He was simply superb. Sri Lankan fans saw it after a long time against India and I am happy for my son”. said Chandralatha.
Suranga Lakmal has equalled Kapil Dev and Richard Hadlee by taking a first ball wicket twice. He will now look forward to equal Pedro Collins of the West Indies who has done it thrice in Tests.
“Hope he will do his best in the series. I am a proud mother” concluded S.H Chandralatha.
