After the India blind cricket team beat Pakistan by nine-wickets in a one-sided affair in Twenty20 World Cup in Bengaluru, former swashbuckling batsman Virender Sehwag was quick in posting the congratulatory message with the hashtag of “Other Men In Blue” which appeared to be the slogan of country’s blind cricket team.
Earlier, the hashtag did not sit well with Sehwag and was questioned by his Twitter followers and fans for the choice of his words. But he was right in his own way.
The confirmed twitter account user who goes by the name of Gaurav Pandhi was at the receiving end when he tagged Sehwag in his Twitter question followed by a link which appeared to be an article from Indian Express.
“Reddy has a point, @virendersehwag! The team led by Kohli won’t be called ‘other’, right?,” posted Gaurav on Twitter.
The former batsman Sehwag gave a befitting reply to a Twitter user for asking him a question on ‘the other men in blue’.
“Better do some research before commenting. But research &media/you don’t go hand in hand.It is their official campaign theme,” Sehwag replied on Twitter.
However, Blind Cricket Team Ajay Kumar Reddy skipper in a video message posted on Twitter gave a piece of advice to media persons while saying cross-check ten times before writing the news to avoid misquoting the statements.
“I’m upset with the media for misquoting his statement of Viru Bhaiya [Virender Sehwag],” said Ajay Kumar.
“I was happy with the congratulatory message from my favourite player Virender Sehwag,” revealed Ajay Kumar.
