Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan To Play In Celebrity Cricket League
Cricket fans will get a golden opportunity to see some of their most beloved cricketers in action again as according to reports, former international cricketers are all set to feature in the upcoming edition of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL). Started in 2011, the League is a non-professional cricket league and was contested by eight teams consisting of film actors from eight major regional film industries of Indian cinema. Only four teams participated in the inaugural season.
The new season is also going to witness a few changes as far as playing format is concerned. The league will be based on the format of ‘Hong Kong Sixes’, an annual international cricket tournament held at the Kowloon Cricket Club. The tournament, that was scrapped in 2013 due to lack of funding, was a 6-a-side tournament and it is expected that the CCL will be played on a similar line, where three actors will play alongside three international cricketers.
Vishnu Vardhan Induri, the founder and managing director of the CCL, recently said that the likes of Virender Sehwag, Brian Lara, Jacques Kallis, Jonty Rhodes, Andrew Symonds, Daniel Vettori, Kumar Sangakkara and Zaheer Khan will be participating in the league.
Well, the tournament is getting bigger after every passing year and the addition of cricket stars is only going to make it more famous and bigger. Moreover, fans will be delighted to see the legendary cricketers in action once again. Some of the biggest cricketers of yesteryears were seen in action last year in the Master Champions League and are all set to entertain their millions of fans once again.
The upcoming edition of the CCL is expected to start in January.
