Virender Sehwag's Inspirational Tweet On Martyr Colonel Santosh Mahadik’s Wife 1

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has paid his respect to late Colonel Mahadik’s wife who was commissioned into the Indian army as a lieutenant.

Her husband, Col. Santosh Mahadik was dead in a terror attack in November, 2015 near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir fighting the militants. Swati Mahadik had completed her parade on Saturday in Chennai as she broke into tears of joy.

Santosh Mahadik was a hero when he sacrificed himself to save many men under his charge and was later awarded the prestigious Shaurya Chakra award for his exemplary services to the Indian army.

She was pictured with Lt. Nidhi Dubey, wife of Naik Mukesh Dubey as she joined the Indian army on Saturday. Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was quick to pay his utmost respect to Swati Mahadik and Nidhi Dubey, both lost their husbands in battlefield protecting India.

His tweet read: “Bow down to the spirit of these incredible women. Best Tribute to Col.Mahadik& Nk Mukesh Kumar by Swati Mahadik & Nithi Dubey #SaluteMartyrs”

Indian army twitter handle also welcomed the duo and marked the event with an inspirational tweet which read: “SaluteThe Spirit. Lt. Swati Mahadik, wife of the late Col. Santosh Mahadik, who laid down his life for the country while fighting terrorists in J&K, and Lt. Nidhi Dubey, wife of Naik Mukesh Dubey.”

“Both have strived hard to become officers today after their husbands passed away. Both of them have made all of us proud by completing the rigorous training and becoming an officer in the Indian Army.”
