UAE T20X, a new T20 league of Emirates Cricket Board, announced a set of coaches. Many former players will do the services in the league as non-playing stuff. The inaugural season of the league will take place in December 2018.
From India, VVS Laxman, Robin Singh, Venkatesh Prasad and Sanjay Bhangar have signed up to do services in the league. They will be sharing the expertise stuff to the franchise.
From Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Akhtar, Saqlain Mushtaq, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Ajmal, and Waqar Younis have confirmed their participation in the league.
The left-arm former legendary bowler of Sri Lanka, Chaminda Vaas also showed his consent to work as a bowling coach. The draft and auction of T20X will take place later this year.
“The coaching roster we are currently building boasts some of the sport’s best former players and career coaches. It is another clear demonstration of our commitment to not only showcase emerging talent but to provide them with a high standard of competition and world class coaching that will help develop their individual game,” said Zayed Abbas, the board member at Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).”
UAE T20X announced two iconic players as well
Apart from that, the league announced South African left-hand batsman, David Miller and Andre Russell of West Indies as iconic players. Two of the iconic players have been released so far who will lead the respective franchises in the tournament. Five franchises are going to take part in the league.
UAE T20X announced a unique structure in the composition of a team. It will ensure that four junior players or emerging players will be picked up apart from three associative member players. Three players to pick from UAE national team are mandatory for every team apart from five international star players and an ‘icon player.’
The organizers also announced the South African legend, AB de Villiers as the global ambassador of the league.
