VVS Laxman Picks His Best Indian Test XI (1993-2018)
Former Indian flamboyant batsman VVS Laxman has picked his best Indian Test XI side. Laxman has selected Indian players who represented the country from 1993 to 2018.
VVS Laxman has Virender Sehwag and Murali Vijay as his opening pair. Sehwag redefined the opening position with his blistering strokeplay whereas Murali Vijay has a solid technique. Sehwag scored 8586 runs at 49.34 in the 104 Test matches. The right-hander also scored two triple hundreds for India.
This is one strong team.
Vijay has scored 3933 runs in the 59 Test matches. India’s greatest number three Rahul Dravid takes the one down position in VVS Laxman’s team. Dravid had a staggering Test career in which he scored 13288 in the 164 matches at an average of 52.31.
Sachin Tendulkar comes to bat at number four. Tendulkar is regarded as one of the best batsmen as he scored 15921 runs in 200 Test matches at 53.79. The current Indian skipper Virat Kohli comes to bat after his idol. Kohli is in sublime form as he has scored 5994 runs in 69 matches at 54.49.
VVS Laxman has selected his former skipper Sourav Ganguly as the captain of his Test side. Ganguly amassed 7212 at 42.18 in 113 Test matches and led India with aplomb. India’s greatest wicketkeeper and captain MS Dhoni takes the gloves for VVS Laxman side. Dhoni gathered 4876 runs at 38.09 in 90 Test matches.
Anil Kumble is the only spinner in Laxman’s side. The leg-spinner was India’s most successful bowler with 619 Test wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also makes the cut into Hyderabad player’s side. The swing master has scalped 63 wickets in the 21 matches at 26.1. Furthermore, Kumar can also chip in with the bat.
Javagal Srinath is also included in his side by VVS Laxman. Srinath took 236 wickets in the 67 Test matches. Zaheer Khan takes the final spot as the southpaw pacer took 311 wickets in the 92 Test matches.
