The criticism of Indian opener in the Test match is not ending. From senior player to fans are criticising KL Rahul’s performance and suggesting that some other players should be given chance. Though India won all the series across the formats in the recent USA and West Indies tour, there are talks about the batting. VVS Laxman also shared his view on this subject and said KL Rahul is not a newcomer in the game. He has been given more chances but has failed to prove himself.

During India tour of Australia in 2018, KL Rahul managed to score only 57 runs in 3 Test matches with an average of 11.40. His last Test century was against England at The Oval when India had already lost the series. Rahul needs to buck up and deliver the goods to retain his place in the playing XI.

KL Rahul is no longer a newcomer to Test cricket
“There were lots of positives for India, but question marks hang over the batting,” Laxman wrote in Times of India.

“Cheteshwar Pujara must be disappointed at a modest start to a new season, but the greater concern is over KL Rahul. His ability is never under question, and he is no longer a newcomer to Test cricket. He has got numerous opportunities, but he has often flattered to deceive. India will look for more from him and Rishabh Pant, both with the bat and the gloves, in future,” he added.
In a first Test match, KL Rahul scored 44 and 38 but was not able to convert those to fifties and in the second Test match, it went down to 13 and 6. KL Rahul needs to work on his batting style.

VVS Laxman praised Hanuma Vihari and Jasprit Bumrah
VVS Laxman is happy with the performance of the two Indian players. In his perspective, India can not get the players like Hanuma Vihari and Jasprit Bumrah. He has great expectations from Vihari and belief that his future is bright.
“There is so much to admire about the brand of cricket India played, and no one exemplified it better than Hanuma Vihari with the bat and Jasprit Bumrah with the ball. Vihari has been at home, enhancing his reputation as a Test batsman with every outing. I look forward to greater things from him,” Laxman concluded.
