David Warner has been recruited as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the forthcoming version of the Indian Premier League (IPL). David Warner, who was their highest run-scorer previous year, does not have much experience in terms of leading a team, and has captained only once before during the first version of the KFC Big Bash.
Sunrisers Hyderabad confirmed the news over their social platform official twitter on Wednesday night. The tweet was: “Congratulations @davidwarner31 on being the SRH captain for IPL 2015. We wish you all the best!”
Earlier David Warner had made it clear that he expects to lead the Australian national cricket One Day International squad and being made skipper of his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise will give him the chance to sharpen his leadership skills.
The appointment of David Warner as the rookie captain Warner points a fresh beginning for the Hyderabad-based franchise. Previous year, they finished 6th in the league-table, winning only 6 matches out of the 14 matches they played. Mostly, it were the wrong choices in captaincy that cost them the most. Darren Sammy replaced Shikhar Dhawan, and both of them failed to lead from the front.
Also, not many Sunrisers hitters delivered but the way Warner batted, he clearly looked to be in the wrong team at the wrong time.
