Warner pleased with the bowling effort of SRH 1

David Warner is in scintillating form with the bat this year and has led his team Sunrisers Hyderabad from the front. After losing the first two matches his team made a remarkable turnaround to win the next three matches. They are currently in the third position in the table and the bowlers’ efforts in these matches especially in the last match against Kings XI Punjab has made Warner very happy.

I’ve said before in the past that, if our bowlers bowl well, it makes my job a lot easier,” a delighted Warner said.

The patterns we’ve shown is, Fizz (Mustafizur) bowls the last over of the powerplay to try and give no momentum to the other team to go into that middle period. We’ve bowled well, we’ve allowed the ball to swing. The conditions have been good to swing the ball. That’s probably our key up front early.

“Losing Ashish Nehra was a big thing for us, but credit to (Barinder) Sran coming in and playing the way he did. He’s obviously been a good bowler for India in the short career so far. Allowing Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) to swing the ball early, take early wickets, (then) Fizz   (Mustafizur) comes in does his job. Moises (Henriques) bowls in the middle period, does exactly what he has to do – (bowls) off-cutters and if he needs to try and swing the ball he can swing the ball, hit the wicket,” Warner explained.

We saw that here today that you don’t want to be too predictable with a change of pace, because the ball is sitting up, it’s a nice wicket. Our bowlers adapted very well. I couldn’t have asked for a better game from the bowlers. They did a fantastic job,” Warner said.

The pleasing thing to me was Bhuvi bowled very well last game, Fizzy bowled well this game. Now hopefully, Sran bowls even better than what he is bowling now. He’s bowling fantastic up front. They’re gelling really well together. I didn’t bowl Bipul (Sharma) tonight; I didn’t require to. We’ve got him up our sleeves. Hooda bowled a good first over.”

The skipper said that they will treat every game with a fresh mindset.
Look for me it’s about taking each game, one step at a time,” said Warner. “This game is done and dusted, now we’ve to start fresh again for next game. It starts with the toss and then work out from there what you have to do. Then assess the conditions, it’s a very good wicket out here. The outfield is lush so the ball doesn’t skip on. It stays newer for longer, so the ball swings, which can help us, and it can be a negative as well. As I said we’ve got to adapt to the conditions,” he concluded.
