Warner praises Dhawan, Kumar and Rahman after KIXP victory 1

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have slowly found their feet in the IPL this season and have now won three back to back games after losing their opening two encounters.

The skipper of the franchise, David Warner is in sublime form and has scored 294 runs so far in the tournament.

He recently helped his side to a five-wicket victory over the Kings XI Punjab and revealed the secret behind his side’s form at the moment.

The hard-hitting opener opined that the key to winning T20 matches and especially the IPL was a good start for the team at the start of the innings.

“We know in this tournament, it takes one good partnership between two batters, when they rain that can take the game away from the opposition,” he said talking to the media after the game against the KIXP.

He went on to explain that partnerships between two batsmen are very important for the batting side and breaking a partnership is important for the bowling side.

He said that his team are always trying to do the best.

That’s the key, when we are bowling, to break that partnership and when we are batting, to keep our partnership going,” he said at the post-match press conference.

Warner’s fellow opener Shikhar Dhawan started the tournament in disappointing fashion but has now picked himself up to two big scores in the last two games.

And Warner was all praises for Dhawan and said that his form has also helped his batting,

He is hitting the ball well. We are working together again at the top of the order. When you can get a good partnership going at the top of the order, it helps a lot,” Warner said.

However, he was critical of his team’s performance and felt that either he or Dhawan should have batted till the end to see the game off without the small blip they felt when they lost a couple of quick wickets at the end of the chase.

The skipper was also all praises for his bowling attack and revealed that a good bowling performance from his players has helped instill confidence in the squad.

“I have said before, in the past, that if our bowlers bowl well, it makes our job easier. Our bowlers adapted very well. I could not have asked for a better game from the bowlers… They did a fantastic job,” he said.

He reserved special praise for his striker bowlers Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman who have done a great job for his side so far this season.

“The pleasing thing for me was the fact that Bhuvi bowled very well in the last game. Fizzy bowled very well this game,” he added.

He also revealed that his team will try as hard as they can to win games and that they are taking the right path forward in the competition.

“We are taking small steps. We try and pride ourselves in winning every game at home,” Warner added.

The explosive batsman also revealed that veteran pacer Ashish Nehra is recovering from injury and also that the condition of star player Yuvraj Singh will be known in the first week of May.

SRH will play their next game at home against the Rising Pune Supergiants on Tuesday.
