Legendary Pakistan cricketer and pace superstar Wasim Akram believes debonair batsmen Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, and David Warner will rule the World Cup during marathon next six weeks.
Wasim Akram told AFP that he is sure Warner, Maxwell and de Villiers will kindle this World Cup. He added that these 3 players have the potential to take the match away in an inferno and it would be highly thrilling for the people to watch them.
AB de Villiers got the record of the fastest ODI hundred off just 31 balls against the Caribbean team, barely a month out from the International Cricket Council World Cup and it will act as a pivotal element to South Africa landing their first title. Australians David Warner and Glenn Maxwell hit threatening tons in the warm-up match against India on Monday at Adelaide to let the others know what they have in store for their competitors.
The former Pakistan skipper added that it will be a huge challenge for the bowlers. He would always ready for taking their wickets rather than trying to restrain them because if they play for longer time they will create trouble for bowlers. Pitch the ball, let it get swing and get them out is his advice.
Akram also said on current shape of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa are the team which will create problem to the other teams. He said according to him, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand are the top choice as they have been showing consistent cricket for previous few months and the co-hosts have the lead of playing in their known conditions which is going to create a good lead.
Wasim said the format of the World Cup will grant teams to recuperate. He was quoted saying: “I think results of the warm-up games will count for nothing. The format of this World Cup is so good that it allows a team to stage a come back even if they lose the first one or two games and from the quarter-finals onwards it will depend on how you play on the day.”
