A wise character, Shaniera Akram, who’s the better-half of the Pakistan’s former skipper and star bowler Wasim Akram, has delivered an inspiring speech at the Jinnah University for Women in Karachi prior to the country’s 70th year of Independence alongside students while encouraging the girls of the embattled nation to believe in themselves in a bid to give their career a new high.
“No matter what you want to do in life, whether it’s building cities, curing disease or being a wife and a mother, you need to believe in yourself and be the best person you can be, whatever road you choose, make it count,” Shaniera was quoted as saying by Geo.Tv.
Bats For Women Folk:
While batting for the empowerment of the women in nutshell, earlier known as Shaniera Thompson, on Wednesday revealed anything is possible owing to the hard work and self-belief which could work wonders for the women folk.
“When you truly believe in yourself, right down deep in your heart, you can do anything. The only road to women empowerment is to encourage women to believe in themselves,” Shaniera added.
The 33-year-old Shaniera, who got painted with a Pakistan flag, added the girls should focus on their potential to compete in whatever way they can to excel in the foreseeable future.
“Thank you Jinnah University for inviting me to celebrate the spirit of Independence Day with you today,” Shaniera tweeted on her official handle.
Australia To Pakistan:
While addressing women as the stepping stone, Shaniera believes they could play a significant role in make a quality change owing to the diversity in the society.
“Women now hold the key to their future, it’s what we choose to do with it that will make all the difference,” Shaniera maintained.

Shaniera in her speech to the students also said the country like Pakistan has made a lot of opportunities available for the women while thrusting on the information which serves as a backbone for the people from all walks of the life.
“It’s a great time to be a woman in Pakistan. We have access to a wider variety of information, better technology, increasing opportunities and much greater respect than ever before,” Shaniera concluded.
It’s pertinent to mention, the Australian-born former public relations consultant Shaniera has married to the 51-year-old legendary left-arm fast bowler Akram in 2013.
The Irreparable Loss:
Unfortunately, after multiple organ failures Akram’s first wife, Huma Akram passed away in October 2009.
The reports suggested Huma was suffering from a severe fungal infection, before breathing her last in Chennai’s Apollo Hospital, the then 42-year-old was bound to be treated in Singapore at the super speciality Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
However, the then hypnotherapist Huma is survived by two sons namely Akbar and Taimur.
The Gain:
The cornerstone for Pakistan and the celebrated cricketer, Akram featured in 356 One-day International and 104 Tests since making his debut in 1984 against New Zealand.
The Lahore-born bowling sensation bagged 502 wickets in 50-over format at the bowling average of 23.52 and 413 at the average of 23.62 in the longer format.
