Abhinav may have had a bad start to his Sri Lanka tour but he certainly had a great start as a fielder. The Tamil Nadu batsman lapped up the most attractive catch of the day when he successful caught Niroshan Dickwella standing at silly point region.

It was an athletic effort considering the fact that the reaction was just 0.456 seconds.

All thanks to Mukund’s efforts, Sri Lanka were further reduced to 5 wickets down after a poor start I reply to India’s mammoth 600 in the first innings.

His catch was important for another reason as well as the left hander was also slowly moving ahead to build a reviving stand with former skipper Angelo Mathews. For some time, it felt that Mathews finally had a man who was resilient enough to withstand the spin and share the rebuilding procedure with him.

However, Dickwella’s failure to judge the length and turn of the loopy delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin and Mukund’s efforts proved to be enough to get rid of the hope that Mathews and Sri Lankan fans were harbouring in their minds.

The catch can also prove to be a motivating factor for Mukund as it can get him into the positive zone after contributing just 12 in the first innings despite getting a chance to bat on a placid wicket.
