Watch: Andre Fletcher Clean Bowled But Bails Failed To Dislodge
Trinbago Knight Riders spinner Khary Pierre had already bowled his three overs in the powerplay, conceding only nine runs and picking up the prized scalp of hard-hitting batsman Johnston Charles. But despite bowling so well, when he came out to bowl his fourth and his team’s seventh over against St. Lucia Stars on Tuesday (August 7), luck eluded him while opening batsman Andre Fletcher benefited from a huge stroke of luck.
The left-arm spinner bowled one on the middle stump and Fletcher went for a wild heave but failed to make any contact with the ball. Consequently, the ball raced through the bat to hit the leg-stump and the light lit up. But to everyone’s surprise, the bail were not dislodged, leaving the bowler and wicketkeeper shell-shocked. The ball then raced away to the fence to add further insult to injury for the Knight Riders
Fletcher was batting on 16 when he got the reprieve and went on to score 40.
Here is a clip of that dramatic incident:
The incident, nevertheless, did not cost the Knight Riders much as they won the game by 4 wickets, Batting first, the St’ Lucia Stars posted a modest 118 for 9 with Fletcher top-scoring for them. In reply, the Knight Riders were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 75 for 6 but Shadab Khan (30*) and Javon Searles (27*) shared an unbeaten partnership of 45 runs to take the team home with 26 balls to spare.
